Funeral services for Irene Feickert were held Wednesday, April 4, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. in the Washington Prairie Lutheran Church, rural, Decorah, Iowa. The Reverend Kim W. Smith officiated. The organist was Paul Bruvold. Casket Bearers were: Rodney Hemry, Brian Nelson, Wade Feickert, Tim Feickert, Trevor Perez, Bryce Koenig, Brent Feickert, and Jason Nelson. The Honorary Casket Bearers were the grandchildren. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery. The Schutte Funeral and Cremation Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements.
Irene Emma Eda (Meyer) Feickert was born August 1, 1921, to Victor C. And Emma (Willman) Meyer in Grand Meadow Township, Clayton County, south of Postville, Iowa. She passed away Saturday, March 31, 2007, in the Franciscan-Skemp Medical Center at LaCrosse, Wisconsin, at the age of 85 years, 7 months, and 30 days.
She was baptized October 16, 1921, and confirmed at Postville, Iowa. Irene attended the Luana School and then the Oak Hill Country School.
On October 1, 1940 Irene was married to Theodore "Ted" Feickert in St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. To this union nine children were born. Following their marriage the couple farmed in the area until 1969. Irene was a housewife until they moved to Frankville. She then worked at Livingood's Supper Club for 27 years, at Bonnie and Clyde's and then at Barb's Country Inn until her retirement. Irene enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, going to the Old Store for coffee, visiting with her friends and neighbors, cooking and baking, and taking care of her house plants.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ted, who died in 2002, a son, Allen, a brother, Leonard Meyer, and two sons-in-law, James Perez and William Kelley.
Surviving are eight children, 24 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.

Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Norma Meyer, Cedar Rapids, IA.
Irene was a member of the Washington Prairie Lutheran Church.
