Funeral services for Arthur A. Jaster, 93, were held Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Elkport, Iowa, with Rev. Tom Martin officiating. Organist was Judy Koth. Burial with military rites was at Mt. Harmony Cemetery, rural Elkport. Pallbearers were Bernard Jaster, Jerry Jaster, Wayne Jaster, Larry Willie, Lyle Kulper and Lole Kulper. Arrangements were by Leonard Funeral Home, Elkader.
He was born October 8, 1908, in Elk Township, son of Rudolph and Wilheminia (Fritz) Jaster. He attended Musfeldt Country School through the eighth grade. Art was a World War II Army veteran serving from March of 1942 to October of 1945. He was united in marriage to Joyce Kulper on June 11, 1947, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Elkport. Art did masonry and carpentry work in the area. He enjoyed flowers and gardening. He was the baptismal sponsor of his nephew, Charles Jaster. Art had been a resident of the Elkader Care Center since October of 1993. He died Tuesday night, Nov. 27, 2001, at the Elkader Care Center, Elkader, following a long illness.
