William Pixler, widely known farmer and horse-trader, died in Iowa City, Sunday, following an operation. He was 68 years old.

Scores of friends paid final respect to him Tuesday, funeral services being held from the Methodist church.

William Pixler, aged 68, was born June 24, 1867, in Clayton County, near Edgewood, Iowa. About the age of 12 he, with the rest f the family, moved near Elkader and a few years later to Sni Magill.

He was married to Miss Gertrude Hayes in October 1892. To this union two children were born, George and Orville. This union was dissolved by the death of the mother in May, 1896*.

In July, 1897 William Pixler was married to Ida May Bernhouse, and to this union five children were born, May, Albert Bud, Charles Edward, Bertha and Ida.

About 16 years ago Mr. and Mrs. Pixler moved with the children from Sni Magill to West McGregor in order that the children would be nearer school.

All his life William Pixler devoted to the occupation of farming.

He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, Orville and George Pixler of Rockford, Ill.; Mrs. Eldo Klingeman, Albert Pixler, Charles Pixler, and Mrs. Donald Abel, all of McGregor, and Mrs. Wm. Buresh of Postville.

In addition to those of the immediate family, others who mourn his loss are his brother, Nate Pixler of Marquette, another brother George and a sister Liza having preceded him in death some years ago, and thirteen grandchildren.

Gertrude's death notice was printed in the Elkader Register, May 14, 1897, so she did not die in 1896.
