Elkader Register,14 May 1897.

We learn that Mrs. Wm. Pixler, Jr., died Wednesday evening, but are without particulars.

William Pixler has a bio from the 1916 History book and an obituary. The bio names his 1st wife as Miss Gertrude Hayes, daughter of Addison & Melissa Hayes and that she died in May 1899. The obituary states Gertrude died in May 1896. The obit states he remarried in July 1897 to Ida Barnhouse. Obviously, neither are correct as to Gertrude's year of death.

She is found in census records as Nissa (1880) and Nessie (1885). Named as Gertrude in her 1891 marriage to Wm Pixler and as Inez G. Pixler in her son George's 1892 birth cert.

Her burial place is uncertain - possibly Pleasant Grove or the Clayton cemetery. Verification is needed.
