McGregor, Ia. - Special: Funeral services for Herman Haltmeyer, 75, long-time farm resident of the McGregor vicinity, who died Monday night following a short illness, will be held at St. Mary's church Thursday morning. Burial will be in the Catholic cemetery.

Mr. Haltmeyer was born at Brownsville, Minn., Aug. 30, 1860. When 11 years old, he came with his parents to McGregor, where they settled on a farm on Swede Ridge, one of the first families to take up land there.

On April 3, 1883, he married Catharine Hohmann at Sherrill's Mound, and they moved to a farm near his parents on Swede Ridge. This had been their home for the 53 years since, until a few months ago when they moved into McGregor.

Mr. Haltmeyer is survived by his widow, six daughters, Mrs. Louis Goltz, of McGregor; Mrs. Wm. Woods, of San Fernanda, Calif.; Mrs. Susie Haltmeyer, of McGregor; Adele Haltmeyer, of Chicago; Sister Marie, OSF, of Dubuque and Mrs. Tom O'Reiley of McGregor; and two sons, Harvey F. Haltmeyer of McGregor and G. Lawrence Haltmeyer, who lives on the home farm on Swede Ridge; three sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Flora Dehn, of Clayton; Mrs. Wm Lindeman and Mrs. Henry Dralmeier, both of McGregor; Ernest Haltmeyer, of Farmersburg and John Haltmeyer of Manchester.
