Clayton County Journal, 07 Oct. 1885.
Carrie A. Stratton died at Bismark, Iowa, September 28th, 1885, aged 29 years and 08 months.
Sister Carrie had been failing in health for several years, and was taken worse five or six weeks before her death, so she was obliged to take her bed. Loving parents and kind friends administered to her wants, but all was of no avail, she must answer to the Savior's call. In all her sickness she was so patient, although suffering bodily. She would talk of her Savior, feeling that He alone could help her, and when he see fit to take her home she was willing and ready to go. And she prayed that Jesus would take her and not let her suffer so long. But if it was His will she would like to live to do good in the world. She wanted to be the means of saving souls.
She died without a struggle, and when we said, "good bye, Carrie," she smiled, and it seemed we could see the "shining angels" bending over her. Oh! she was so happy in Jesus. We do feel the loss of our dear sister, but we feel and know that she is at rest. We know that we must live near our Savior and follow where he leads, and if Carrie's young friends will only remember her last wishes for them to "meet her in heaven."
Yes, dear sister, we will meet thee
In that home so bright and fair.
Where with angels thou art singing,
And thy soul is free from care.(Signed) Sister.
Card of Thanks was signed by Mr. and Mrs. C. Stratton.
