John Henry Hinricks, the son of John Hinricks and his wife, Dorothea nee Engel was born March 20, 1880, in Volga township, Clayton county, Iowa, and died in Dubuque May 04, at the age of seventy-five years, one month and fourteen days.
John was baptized and confirmed in the Emmanuel Lutheran church at Elkport.
He never married and spent most his life in Volga township, and the past thirty years in Garber. He was a member of the St. John's Emmanuel Lutheran church in Garber. In early life he farmed for a number of years.
Mr. Hinricks had been in failing health for over a year and sought help at the University hospital and other places to no avail.
He is survived by his brother William of Guttenberg, nieces and nephews. His parents and four sisters preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held in St. John's church at Garber Sunday, May 06, at 2 o'clock, with the Rev. Paul Kitterer officiating. Burial was in Mt. Harmony cemetery at Elkport.
