Louis P. Roethler, 65, former Elkader farmer, died Monday at his home in Minneapolis, Minn. His body arrived at Elkader Wednesday morning and the rosary was said at the MaTaggart Funeral home Wednesday evening.

Services were held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Burial was in St. Joseph's cemetery.

Louis P. Roethler, son of Bernard and Mary Roethler, was born March 16, 1893, at New Hampton, Iowa, and died of a heart attack at his home in Minneapolis, July 21, 1958.

He received his education from the parochial school at North Washington, Iowa, and attended college at Milwaukee, Wis.

He was married to Kathryn Hurley who died December 17, 1944. They were the parents of eight children.

Mr. Roethler lived in Chicago, North Washington, Iowa, Elkader in 1933, where he was engaged in farming. In 1945 he moved to Minneapolis, where he was employed as a department head in a Gamble store, he also did interior decorating and painting. He was a member of the Foresters at North Washington, the Knights of Columbus and the Catholic Church at Minneapolis. He had also served as a Democratic chairman in Chickasaw county, Iowa.

Surviving are his second wife Mary, Minneapolis; four sons, Joe, St. Paul; Dale, Minneapolis; William, Elkader; Ray, Chicago; and four daughters, Mrs. LaVonne Albright, Minneapolis; Mrs. Mae Rita Geraghty, Bruce, Wis.; Mrs. O'Donna Meyer, Volga; and Lou Ella Roethler, San Francisco, Calif; one sister, Mrs. Frances Ungs, Waterloo and 23 grandchildren.
