Mrs. Esther Jane Schmidt, 85, died at her home in Strawberry Point at 1:10 a.m. July 06, 1958. Born January 28, 1873, at Littleport, she was the daughter of William and Harriet Bryan Marshall. She was married to Frederick P. Schmidt at Elkader and had lived in Strawberry Point for the past 21 years.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, July 08, at the Gill Chapel, Strawberry Point and interment was in the Strawberry Point cemetery. The Rev. Robert Smith was the officiating pastor.

Mrs. Schmidt was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons, three brothers and one sister. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Mertie Rickert, Edgewood; three sons, Ray and Floyd of Strawberry Point, and Ralph of Cedar Rapids. There are 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
