Mrs. Eva Rogers, widow of L.G. (Tom) Rogers, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, in Xavier hospital, Dubuque, where she had been a patient for the past month.
She was born in Elkader Aug. 14, 1891, the daughter of Mrs. Minnie and the late William J. Moran, and lived in Elkader and Clayton county most of her life.
She and Mr. Rogers were married in 1917 and lived in McGregor until his death in 1933, when she and her three sons returned to Elkader to live.
She was a graduate of the Elkader high school, 1909, and before her marriage taught in the rural schools of this county. During World War II she served as secretary of the O.P.A. board at Elkader and in recent years had been employed by the Elkader Production Credit association.
One son Tom, died in Calcutta, India, While serving with the Army.
She is survived by two sons, William of Moberly, Mo., and John of St. Augustine, Fla., who is serving with the U.S. Navy, and four grandchildren. Her mother, Mrs. Minnie Moran of Elkader, and the following sisters also survive: Mrs. W. H. Schmidt (Florence), Lockport, Ill.; Mrs. J. G. Hammond, (Hilda), Chicago; Mrs. A. J. Mulroney (Genevieve), Elkader; Mrs. R. S. Eckles (Wilmina), Moberly, Mo.; and Misses Mabel and Viola Moran, Chicago.
Funeral services were held at the Congregational Christian church at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon, Dec. 13, with the Rev. Paul Kitterer officiating. Burial was in the East Side cemetery. Pallbearers were J. C. Costigan, H.M. Wolf, Julius Pahlas, A. J. Johnson, P. V. Dougherty, and H. K. Roggensack.
Relatives from a distance who attended the services were: Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Schmidt and Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Schmidt, Lockport, Ill.; Mrs. T. B. Rogers, Wilmette, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Eckles, Moberly, Mo.; Mrs. J. G. Hammond, Misses Mabel and Viola Moran, Chicago; Michael Mulroney, Iowa City; and her sons and their wives, Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Rogers and daughter Barbara and Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Rogers.
