Birdie William Dryer was born April 21, 1916 in Clayton county, Iowa. He farmed all his life around Guttenberg, Strawberry Point and Edgewood. He became sick Saturday, Nov. 17. Two days later his condition became critical and he was removed to the Memorial hospital in Manchester. On Tuesday, Nov. 20, he died at 2 p.m.

Funeral services were held Nov. 23, at Strawberry Point Lutheran church, conducted by the Rev. Meyer. Burial was in the family lot in the Mt. Harmony cemetery. Pallbearers were Lloyd Binning, Wayne Smith, Harley Krause, Glenroy Anderson, Earl West and Everett McTaggart.

Birdie was the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Dryer. He was born near Garnavillo. On Dec. 15, 1937, he was married to Marjorie June Knospe.

Survivors are his wife, his four children; Betty Lou, 13, James, 8, Shirley, 2, and Susan, one month; also his father, Willie Dryer of Edgewood, one brother, Harold of Edgewood and two sisters, Viola, Mrs. Wm. H. Kregel of Guttenberg and Berniece Dryer of Edgewood. He was preceded in death by his mother who died in 1937.

He was a member of the Lutheran church at Strawberry Point, and was an active member of the Woodland Grange, having been an officer at the time of his death.
