GARBER- Mrs. Lena Peuker, nee Rau, was born in Germany on Jan. 29, 1846, and died suddenly of a heart attack Sunday afternoon, May 04, 1930, while on a visit to a neighbor. She was the oldest of a family of seven.
She came to the United States with her parents while yet a small child. They first settled in Volga township. She was united in marriage April 22, 1864, to John Peuker. To this union nine children were born, four daughters and five sons. The husband and four children preceded the mother in death. She is survived by the following children: Alec of Madison, Minn.; John of Elkport; and Chas. of Garber; Mrs. Kate Oelkers, Garnavillo, and Mrs. Emma Sadavasser, Mason City; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Peuker was well known and will be sadly missed by her relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted at Garnavillo by Rev. K. W. Braun. Burial was in Garnavillo.
