After an illness lasting one month, due to paralysis, John Meenan, a long time resident of Communia, passed away at his home there on Wednesday, June 26.

He was born in Hanover, Germany, Dec. 27, 1842, and came to America and Clayton county with his parents when he was thirteen years of age. He has since lived in the same community following the occupation of farming all his life, marrying Wilhelmine Will on Dec. 9, 1886.

The funeral was held at one o'clock p.m., June 29, at the home, Rev. C. H. Franke of Elkader, officiating. Burial was in the family cemetery at Communia.
