Aaron Patterson was born in Carey, Ohio, October 25th, 1840, and moved with his parents to Clayton county, Iowa, in 1850. In 1861 he was united in marriage to Fanny Christ. Mr. Patterson resided on a farm in Clayton county until 1896, when he with his family moved to Carthage, S.D.

Mr. Patterson enjoyed good health the greater part of his life. About four years ago he suffered a serious illness, but apparently recovered his usual health and vigor. The past winter was spent with his wife and daughter at Ocean Park, Cal. He became ill and lingered but a few days, passing away March 23rd at 1:30 a.m., at the age of 76 years and 5 months.

The deceased is survived by the wife and daughter, who are at present in Ocean Park, Cal., and one son, of Turlock, Cal.

The remains were brought to Elkader on Thursday of last week, and the funeral services were held that afternoon in the Congregational Church, Rev. Isaac Cassel officiating. Interment was in the East Side cemetery.
