Nehls, Daughter died 1879

Elkader Register, Thur., 12 June 1879. Garnavillo column.

The family of Mr. Nehls, of Read township, living west of here, have been sadly afflicted, they have lost five children from diptheria within a few weeks, the last one a daughter was buried last Saturday. They have now left to them three sons, two in Nebraska, and one here who has been very ill, but is now pronounced convalescent by the attending physician Dr. Behle. Much sympathy is expressed for them in their affliction. So far, the disease has been confined to the one family.
