Pioneer Passes Away.
On Friday, Sept. 24, 1920, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. L. H. Beerman, in this city, occurred the death of Heinrich Mueller, after a short illness and at the age of 76 years, 3 months and 14 days. Deceased was born at Husum, Germany, on June 10, 1844, and came to America with his parents in the year 1846, spending most of the remainder of his life in Guttenberg and vicinity. In the year 1864 he was married at Guttenberg, Iowa, to Miss Sophia Rueter. He was a graduate of the Rockford, Illinois, University and also taught school for six years. For a number of years he was engage din farming in Jefferson township, after which he came to Guttenberg to reside. He was also a talented musician. Mr. Mueller was a kind and true husband, father and friend, and was an ambitious man during his entire life. All was done for him that could be done to ward off death, but all to no avail. His death is deeply mourned by his aged wife, two daughters, Mrs. Mathilda Beerman, of Guttenberg, Iowa, and Mrs. Mina Tieke, of Independence, Iowa, three sons, William, Karl and Henry Mueller, all of Jefferson township, nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends by whom he will be sadly missed. Funeral services were held at the L. H. Beerman home on last Sunday afternoon, Rev. J. Janzig officiating. Interment was made in the City Cemetery. The funeral was largely attended by relatives and friends from far and near.
