Elkader Register, Thur., 29 Nov. 1900. Littleport column.
According to report we have a genuine case of hydrophobia near here. A family by the name Hines live on Honey Creek. A short time ago the father and daughter were bitten by a dog. The girl died in the greatest of agony. The father is given up by the doctors saying there is no hope for him. We have not learned what became of the dog.
__________
Note: although this is speculation only, and no other record can be found; it is possible that the girl was d/o Albert & Alice (Stone) Hines who lived in the Honey Creek vicinity Alice is buried in Ross cemetery, as is a daughter Emma May, who died 11/15/1900. Emma's father did not die until 1938 & is buried in the Strawberry Point cemetery.
