George E. Dayton died Wednesday at 2:45 p.m. at his residence at 512 North First street at the age of 62 years. Mr. Dayton had been seriously ill for the past five months with Bright's disease, death resulting from that cause.

Mr. Dayton came to Tacoma about two and a half years ago, having previously lived in Spokane, and for many years in Portland. He was occupied as a traveling salesman in the hardware line and was well known in this city and surrounding country.

He had been married three times, the last occasion taking place in this city December 22, 1901, when he was married to Mrs. L.M. Frasier of 512 North First street where they have since made their home.

Mr. Dayton will be remembered by many of the old residents, he was in the Hardware business with Drake, Dayton & Patrick of this city.
