Guttenberg: Mrs. William Nuehring (nee Mathilda Dittmer) was born on a farm in Jefferson township, Clayton county, Iowa, 60 years ago, her entire ambitious and true Christian life having been spent in this community. She was married to William Nuehring. Mrs. Nuehring was held in high esteem by all in this community. To do acts of kindness for her family and friends was her greatest pleasure in life at all times and her memories will be forever cherished by all who knew her. She was a faithful member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran church in Guttenberg. Her death is deeply mourned by her husband, one son, Verni Nuehring of Jefferson township; three daughters, Mrs. John Becker of near Clayton, Mrs. Ted Dittmer of Colesburg, and Mrs. Mathilda Dittmer at home; a number of grandchildren; one brother, Fred Dittmer of Treton, Iowa, two sisters, Mrs. John Vlottho of Ireton, Iowa, and Mrs. Gerd Onken of South Dakota; her father-in-law, John Muehring of Jefferson township, and many other relatives and friends by whom this good and true woman will be sadly missed. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. W. J. F. Adix at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran church in this city on Tuesday afternoon, with burial in the City cemetery. The funeral was largely attended by relatives and friends from far and near, The Nuehring families have the sympathy of this community.
