Ulysses Delbert Mitchell passed away at his late home in Rocky Ford, Colorado, on Thursday, October 5, 1933, at 11:15 p.m. at the age of 33 years, four months and 16 days.

He was born at Riceville, Iowa, May 19, 1900, where he was reared and educated. Both of his parents died while he was young.

During the World War, at the age of 18 years, he enlisted and entered the army. He was sent across and served his country overseas until the end of the war. After having been in the service two years and four months he was honorably discharged, returning to this state.

On September 17, 1924, he was married to Delphina Lenth of Luana. Three children were born to this union of whom two survive.

For about six years the family lived on a farm northeast of Monona. Then his health began to fail and in order to prolong his days the family, seeking a higher climate more favorable to his health, moved to the state of Colorado. For about a year he was bedfast, his sickness having advanced to a stage where there was no hope for recovery.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Delphina Mitchell, two children, Clifton aged 8 and Marcella aged 5; also two brothers, his stepmother and a stepbrother, and many other relatives and friends.

The body was shipped to Postville where on the afternoon of Wednesday, October 11th, at two o'clock the funeral was held from St. Paul's Lutheran church, Dr. R.B. Garten officiating. The remains were laid to rest in the Lutheran cemetery at Luana with military honors.

The sympathy of all goes out to those who mourn his loss.
