Clayton County Register, Thur., 23 Feb. 1933. Pg. 1.
Osterdock: Gerald Haught, 22, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ira Haught, of near Osterdock, was accidently shot and killed Friday noon, when he went to the barnyard to feed cattle on his father's farm, taking a 22 calibre rifle with him. While walking in the barnyard, with the rifle in hand, the young man in some way fell, the rife discharging and the bullet entering his temple. The unfortunate young man died a short time after the accident occurred. Soon after the accident happened, Dr. A. E. Beyer of Guttenberg was called, but all efforts to save the young man's life failed. He is survived by his parents, two brothers, three sisters, and many other relatives and friends, by whom he will be sadly missed. Funeral services were conducted at the Bethel church Monday, by the Rev. Nothdurft of Colesburg. The body was laid to rest in the Bethel cemetery.
