Clayton County Register, Thur., 26 July 1928. Pg. 1.

Alfred William Cassutt, who was born and raised on a farm in Boardman township, west of Elkader, passed away at Preston, Minn., Sunday, July 22.

Alfred attended St. Joseph's parochial school here and graduated with the class of 1916 from the Elkader High School. For three years he attended Columbia College at Dubuque and then clerked two years in the Lee department store in Waukon.

December 26, 1923, he was united in marriage with Miss Celia Norton, of Preston, Minn., going thereafter to San Diego, Calif., where he was head salesman for the Nash Auto firm for almost four years. In January, 1927, he contracted flu and later tuberculosis developed. Being advised to come east again he went to a sanitarium in Pine City, Minn., where the best medical skill failed. Later he was brought to his wife's home, where he passed away last Sunday.

Alfred was well and favorably known and the services which were held here from St. Joseph's church Tuesday morning were largely attended. He is survived by his wife and one daughter, Geradine Cecilia, nearly two years old; his father, Joe Cassutt, two sisters, Louise of Elkader and Frances of San Diego, Calif.; and two brothers, Leo and George on the home farm, besides many other relatives and friends.

Interment was made in St. Joseph's cemetery here and the following served as pallbearers: Harold Downey, Leo. Kelleher, Stephen Donlon, Vincent Roach, James Cain and Joe Hoover.
