Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 20 Jan. 1910. Farmersburg column.

Died, at his home three miles north of this place Friday evening, Jan. 14th, J. W. Hecksted, at the age of 70 years, and 4 months. He leaves to mourn his departure a wife, four sons and one daughter. The funeral services were held Monday morning at 11:00 o'clock, at the Lutheran church here. Rev. Pett officiated. Burial in the Farmersburg cemetery.

(Note: WPA records indicate John Huckstadt, 1839 - 1910, buried in the Farmersburg - Wagner cemetery.)
