Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 6 Jan. 1916.

Mrs. Margaret Smock died suddenly last Friday afternoon at six o'clock of apoplexy, at the home of her son J. M. Smock, of this place.

Deceased was born in Franklin county, Ind., December 10th, 1838. She came to Iowa with her husband and children in 1866 and five years later her husband died. Since that time her home has been with her children.

Two daughters, Mrs. Alma Prunty and Mrs. Myrtle Smith, of South Dakota; and two sons, William, of Oregon, and John M., of Elkader survive.

Funeral services were conducted at the home on Sunday afternoon by Rev. Isaac Cassel and on Monday morning Mr. and Mrs. Smock left with the remains for Hartford, S.D., for burial.

Our community sympathize deeply with the friends so suddenly bereaved.
