Friends in Guttenberg received the sad news from Garnavillo on Monday stating that Mrs. W. E. Meyer (nee Emma Meyer), a long time highly respected resident of that place had passed away on Sunday evening, after an illness of long duration. Deceased was born and raised in Clayton county, Iowa, as a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dietrich H. Meyer, pioneer settlers of Clayton county. She was married to Mr. W. C. Meyer on December 27, 1897. Mrs. Meyer was a kind and loving wife, mother, sister and friend, her greatest pleasure in life at all times being to do acts of kindness for her family and those in need, which won her many friends during her useful and Christian life, and by whom her memories will be forever cherished. She was a faithful member of the Lutheran church. Her death is deeply mourned by her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Bessie Schorg and Miss Maude Meyer, other relatives by whom this good and true woman will be sadly missed. Funeral services will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran church at Garnavillo on Thursday afternoon. The body will be laid to rest in the Garnavillo cemetery. Rev. Wm. Brann of St. Paul's Lutheran church, Garnavillo, will officiate.
