Mrs. Mearl Peterman, daughter of Henry Shaw and his wife Sarah, nee Geraugh, was born March 2, 1898, near Elkader, Iowa, and died Monday evening, June 29, 1959, at the age of 61 years, 3 months and 27 days.
Mrs. Peterman and her husband came to Elkader the previous Saturday to visit with her sisters and brother in Elkader. She had been in failing health for the past seven years, but her death came suddenly Monday evening at the home of her sister, Ollie, Mrs. Henry Meyer.
Mrs. Peterman lived in this community the greater part of her life. She received her education in the rural school and was baptized in Peace Evangelical and Reformed Church. Since 1941 she had lived at Lansing, Mich.
She was married on June 28, 1930, at Manchester to Mearl Peterman.
Her death is mourned by her husband; two sons, William of Lansing, Mich., and James of Perry, Mich.; one daughter, Grace, Mrs. Earl Marble of Perry, Mich.; two sisters and a brother, Mrs. Wm. Stendel, Mrs. Henry Meyer and Frank Shaw, all of Elkader; and ten grandchildren. Three brothers and one sister preceded her in death.
Funeral services were at Witt's Funeral Home Friday, July 3, at 2:30 p.m., with burial in the East Side cemetery. The Rev. Paul Kitterer officiated.
