Clayton County Register, Thur., 2 July 1959.

Funeral services for Mrs. Sophie Nieman, 86, were held at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Strawberry Point Saturday afternoon, June 27, with the Rev. Paul Bauer officiating. Burial was in the Strawberry Point cemetery.

Shophie Schug was born at Strawberry Point on Jan. 12, 1873, the daughter of J. Fredrick and Rosina Gruman Schug. She lived in this area most of her life and several years ago was married to Charles Nieman, who preceded her in death. Recently she had made her home at the Lutheran Home for the aged in Strawberry Point and there death came to her suddenly about three o'clock on the morning of June 25.

Survivors include her brother, R. W. Schug of Strawberry Point, and two sisters, Mrs. Anna Fuehr of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Fredericka Burton of Los Angeles, Calif. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.
