Funeral services for John J. Hurley, 72, who died Friday at his home in McGregor after a long illness, were held at 9:30 Monday morning at St. Mary's church in McGregor. The Rev. Vernon J. Peters, pastor, officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.
John Hurley was born Sept. 1, 1877, at Elkader and resided here until 11 years ago, when he went to McGregor and was engaged in the real estate business.
He married Emma Hunter of Marquette. Besides his wife he is survived by four daughters, Mary Ellen of McGregor, Mrs. Harold Smith of Ossian, Mrs. Myrtle Eishid of Waterloo, and Mrs. Hazel Hamburg of Cedar Falls, a son Joseph of Elkader, and two brothers, Michael of Elkader and Tim of Minneapolis.
