Mrs. Wesley (Anna Marie) Johanningmeier

Funeral services for Mrs. Wesley Johanningmeier, 76, of Davenport were held Tuesday morning, Feb. 11, at 11:30 o'clock at the Runge mortuary chapel in Davenport with Rev. C. H. Meyer, pastor of St. Mark Ev. Lutheran church of that city, officiating.

Burial was in Davenport Memorial park cemetery.

Mrs. Johanningmeier died Sunday morning, Feb. 9, at St. Luke's hospital in Davenport after an extended illness.

As Anna Marie, she was born the daughter of Mathias and Henrietta, nee Zimmerman**, March 16, 1892, in Allamakee county. She was baptized July 31, 1892, at Postville and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. John Lutheran church in Luana.

She was married to Wesley Johanningmeier, Dec. 18, 1912, at Monona. They lived in Monona for about two years and then went to live on a farm southwest of Monona on which Harlan Keehner now lives. They lived on the farm until 1942 when they moved to Davenport.

Preceding her in death were her parents, a brother, Mathias; an infant brother, and one grandchild.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Woodrow (Irene) Tapper, Mrs. Jack (Jean) Allum, and Helene, all of Davenport and Mrs. Richard (Gladys) Gooch of Rock Island, Ill.; one son, Eldo of McGregor; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; and two brothers Fred and Charles Wiedenmann of Monona. Music at the services was provided by Kenneth Peterson, organist.

**So you don't think I made a typing error regarding Anna Marie's parents name, I am assuming Zimmerman is the MOTHER's maiden name and the obituary writer forgot to put Anna Marie's parents last name. There are two brothers named Wiedenmann but I do not know if this was the parent's last name. The obit is typed JUST as it appeared in the paper.

Postville Herald newspaper clipping, hand dated 1969, from my mother's obituary collection.
