Thursday, 14 December 1922, Guttenberg Press, p1, c2 and 3:
MRS. HEINRICH MUELLER.
The passing of Mrs. Heinrich Mueller took place at 5:00 p. m. on Friday, Dec. 8, 1922, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. L. H. Beerman, Guttenberg, Iowa, her age at death being 77 years, 4 months and 2 days. Old age and long continued illness are causes leading to her demise.
Sophia Rueter was born Aug. 6, 1845, at Buenden, Prussia, Germany. When six months old she came with her parents to Clayton county the same year, 1846, and has lived here the greater part of her life, although at one time she lived in Minnesota. In 1864 she was married to Heinrich Mueller, whose death occurred in this city Sept. 24, 1920. She is survived by one brother, E. Rueter of Custonia, Minn.; three [c3] sons, William, Karl and Henry, of Jefferson township; and two daughters, Mrs. L. H. Beerman of Guttenberg, and Mrs. Mina Tiecke [sic: Tuecke?] of Elkader; also by nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
The deceased was one of the very earliest pioneers of this county. It was 76 years ago that she came here as a babe, and here she has lived most of her life, and passed to her reward highly respected and beloved. The funeral occurred at St. John’s Lutheran church in this city, on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 1922, Rev. E. Lehne conducting the services. Interment in the City cemetery.
