Valmah H. Mueller

Funeral services were held for Valmah H. Mueller, 74, Garnavillo, Tuesday, April 28, 1987, at St. Paul Lutheran church, Garnavillo, Rev. L.C. Urlaub officiated the service with burial in the Garnavillo City Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers were Darryl Keehner, Keith Mohning, Roger Balk, Robert Bente, Gerald Davis, Carrol Harbaugh, Ray Koth, Rollyn Kraus, Steve Schroeder, James Tuecke, Stan Stade. Pallbearers were Don Kregel, Roger Schoulte, Jerry Koopman, Kenter Werges, Keith Mohning and Verdus Reimer.

Valmah Herman Karl, son of F. Henry and Justina Rueter Mueller was born on a farm in Garnavillo Township, Clayton County, Iowa, May 11, 1912. Pastor K. Wm. Braun baptized him July 7, 1912, and confirmed him Palm Sunday, March 28, 1926. He remained an active and faithful communicant member of the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran church, Garnavillo, until his death. He served as a Sunday School teacher for almost 50 years, during which time he also served for a time as superintendent and as treasurer. He served at least four terms on the church council, held the office of treasurer of the congregation for several years, and was president of the congregation at the time of his death, Saturday, April 25, 1987, at Prairie du Chien memorial Hospital.

Survivors include his nephew, Lloyd Biederman, Elkader, and a niece, Mrs. Derryl (Helen) Leonhard, Elgin.

Preceding him in death were his father in 1912, his mother in 1916; three sisters, Vila Mueller, Mrs. John Biederman and Marie Mueller; and a brother Oliver Mueller
