Lewis E. Carrier, 80, Guttenberg dairy owner and ice cream maker, died Wednesday morning at the Guttenberg hospital where he had been a patient since Feb. 13.

He was born July 18, 1901 at Clayton, and was married Nov. 24, 1920, to Hilda Felder at Dubuque. a lifelong resident of Clayton County, he founded and owned Carrier Dairy and Ice Cream Co., in Guttenberg, a business he operated for 50 years.

Survivors include his wife, Hilda; four daughters, Laura Sodawasser, Dubuque, Sister Mary Ann Carrier, Bellevue, Winifred Fassbinder, Guttenberg, and Patricia Kleinow, Monticello; two sons, Jerome and Daniel, both of Guttenberg; 20 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister and two brothers.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Guttenberg. Burial: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 today at Tuecke-Allyn's, Guttenberg, where there will be a wake service at 8:30 tonight.
