Glen Roy Pixler

Funeral services for Glen Roy Pixler were held Wednesday, Jan. 10, 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. Rev. Julius Peterson officiated. Organist was Mrs. Joann Martins. Interment was in Monona City Cemetery. Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona was in charge of services.

Glen Roy Pixler, son of Roy and Erma Lubbers Pixler was born Dec. 9, 1918 in Postville, IA. He was baptized August 3, 1919 and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. He received his education in Baily Country School and Postville High School, graduating in 1938.

He began farming at a very young age because of his father's ill health. On June 12, 1943 he married Vera Schave at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. They had 2 children. The couple farmed until 1961. They moved into Luana and Glen owned and operated Chase Mfg. Co. until 1967. In 1971 he started his own repair shop in Luana and operated that until 1977 when his health failed.

He died Monday, January 8, 1990 at Lutheran Hospital, LaCrosse, WI. He was a life-long member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He served on Luana City Council and Luana Volunteer Fire Department for nearly 30 years. He was an avid woodworker making many beautiful things from walnut.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Surviving are his wife, Vera; daughter, Kathleen Voelzke, Monona; son, Daniel, Luana; 2 grandchildren; and a sister, Verla Wold, Cedar Rapids.

Pallbearers: Dick Augustine, Jim Farmer, Dwain Wolter, Larry Riveland, Duaine Davis, Chad Davis, Norman Mueller and Dennis Landt.
