YOUNG WIFE AND MOTHER SUDDENLY SUMMONEDLucy Elizabeth Kalke, beloved wife of Milo Kalke of near Clayton Center, and daughter or Mr. and Mrs. Herman Nuehring of near Postville, was born Sept. 23, 1904, in Fayette County and confirmed in St. Paul's church, where she was a member until her marriage to Milo Kalke Dec. 12, 1923, when they established their home on a farm near Clayton Center.
After a brief illness from pneumonia Mrs. Kalke enter the eternal rest at 9:00 p.m. on Monday, October 26, 1925, aged 21 years, one month and three days. She was a woman held in high esteem by a wide circle of friends, all of whom will mourn her untimely passing and sincerely sympathize with those bereft.
Memorial services were conducted in Zion's Ev. Lutheran Church at 10 a.m. last Thursday, and in St. Paul's Lutheran church at 1:00 o'clock the same afternoon, conducted by Rev. E.T. Finck. Interment in the Postville cemetery.
Besides her husband, Milo Kalke, and her baby daughter, Virginia Anna Ida, born October 9, 1925, she is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Nuehring, and her brother George, still at home.
Girls of her Confirmation class acted as flower bearers. The pall bearers were Hugo Kalke, Henry Kalke, Harley Kalke, Elvin Kalke, John Schutte and Louis Eberhardt.
According to the Burial Register of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, on page 245, Lucy Elizabeth Nuehring Kalke died on October 26, 1925 of pneumonina and buried on October 29, 1925 in the Postville Cemetery. From Steve W. Bareis.
