Funeral Services for Delbert Hansel Held Last Friday
Funeral services for Delbert Hansel were held Friday at 2 p.m. from the Rhines Funeral home to the Methodist church in Edgewood. Rev. Dwight C. Bonham officiating. The pallbearers were Charles Jacobs, Lewis Tilp, Ralph Funk, Lyle Fisher, Dewey Beddow and Frank Hill. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Smith accompanied by Mrs. Velma Bonham sang "Ivory Palaces" and "Rock of Ages". Burial was in the Edgewood cemetery.
Delbert Hansel was born in Elk Township, October 10, 1885. He was the eldest son of Allen and Emma Hansel of Edgewood, Iowa. Delbert grew to manhood near Edgewood. Attending the Wood Center and Edgewood schools. He passed away at his home very suddenly Sunday evening at the age of 59 years, four months and one day.
He was united in marriage to Sophie Buhrmann at the Methodist parsonage in Manchester, March 5, 1923.
To this union were born nine children. all survive his passing. They are Leon in service of the United States army, Robert, Dorothy, Leonard, Cie James, Vallie J., Janice, Curtis and little Jackie jsut four weeks old.
Also Donald, a step-son by a former marriage, and a son and daughter by a former marriage. Burdette living in Topeka, Kansas and Berniece, now Mrs. Heffner, San Diego, Calif.
He leaves to mourn his passing his elderly parents of Edgewood, four sisters and three brothers, Mrs. W. E. Herman and Mrs. Colonel Piersoll of Bell, Calif., Mrs. N. E. Randolph, Tulare, Calif., Mrs. E. G. Wright, Kansas city, Mo., Earl, Evertt and Clifford Hansel of Edgewood.
Mr. Hansel with a faithful worker for the Hatch produce of Edgewood for over 27 years.Out of town relatives who attended the Delbert Hansel funeral included Mrs Lena Tegward of Marengo, Mrs. Henry Borman of Williamsburg, Mrs. George Von Linen of Parnell, and Mrs. Loren Dolley of Cedar Rapids, Mr. and Mrs. Burdette Hansel of Topeka, Kansas spent a week here with Mrs. Delbert Hansel and family, and Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Wright of Kansas City spent a week with Mr. and Mrs. Allen Hansel and Clifford.
