Word has been received in Monona, Iowa of the death Sunday of the Rev. Raymond Pacholke in Sioux Rapids, Iowa. Rev. Pacholke was pastor at the Garden City United Methodist Church for several years.

From the DAILY REPORTER:

Funeral services for Rev. Raymond W. Pacholke, age 73, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 13 at the First United Church in Sioux Rapids, with the Revs. Richard Jensen, Mark Heath, and James Seibert officiating. Casket bearers will be Claire Ferguson, Larry Rittscher, Roger Skelton, and Robert Sorenson. Masonic services will be held Wednesday, February 12 at 7:30 p.m. at Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids. There will be a visitation at the Meyer Funeral Home in Council Bluffs, Iowa Thursday Evening, February 13. Burial and committal services will be 9:00 a.m. on Friday, February 14 in the Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Council Bluffs.

Raymond W. Pacholke, son of William and Myrtle (Davis) Pacholke, was born January 28, 1919 in Westside, Iowa. He received his education at Avenue B grade school and Thomas Jefferson High School in Council Bluffs where he graduated in 1937. Raymond married Jean Francis Nugent on April 22, 1942.

He entered the United States Army in 1941 and served during World War II in the European Theater of Operations. He was discharged from active duty in January 1946, having reached the commission of First Lieutenant. He returned to Council Bluffs where he was employed as office manager with Eastman Kodak Company in Omaha, Nebraska for 24 years. He entered into the ministry in 1949, serving as a lay pastor. He received his education through a correspondance course and then from Garrett Theological Seminary in Illinois. He retired from the ministry in 1984 after serving as a minister for 35 years. He served the following Iowa churches: Persia, Pisgah-Little Sioux, St. Mark's, Hazel Dell in Council Bluffs, North English, Monona, Milo-Lacona-Liberty Center, Green Plain in the southeast Warren Parish and Sioux Rapids.

He served as chairman of the Camps and Conference Commission of the United Methodist Church for several years. He was elected as Pastor Emeritus of the First United Church in December 1989. He joined the Execelsior Masonic Lodge in May 1941, where he served in all offices, including Worshipful Master. He was Grand Chaplain of the Iowa Masonic Lodge in 1970.

He served on the Sioux Rapids City Council from 1986 until retiring January 17 of this year due to his failing health.

Rev. Raymond W. Pacholke passed away on Sunday, February 9, 1992 at the Sioux Rapids Care Center where he had resided since January 20. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Rev. Pacholke is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Jean; two sons and their wives, David (Jan) Pacholke of Dubuque, Iowa, Richard (Carol) Pacholke of San Diego, California; two daughters, Martha Turnipseed of Sioux Rapids, Iowa and Raejean and her husband, Jerry Furne of Lawton and 8 grandchildren.
