When she was 14 years old, she came to America with her mother and step-father, Samuel Braker. They lived in Elgin, Ill., until 1908, when they moved to Elgin, Iowa. She was married to Gottfried Frieden of Elgin, Ia., July 13, 1908. The settled on a farm in the Elgin vicinity.

Six children were born to this union. One son died in infancy and one daughter, Marie, died in March of 1936. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, one brother and her husband, Gottfried, who died on June 13, 1939, at their farm home south of Elgin. In March of 1940 she moved to Elgin, where she lived the remaining years of her life.

Survivors are her children, Ida, Sam, Harry and Edwin, all of the Elgin vicinity; 10 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Frieden was baptized on her confession of faith in Elgin, Ill., and became a member of the Apostolic Christian Church of America. Her life was mingled with joy and sorrow and she was very devoted to her family. Among her talents was her ability for knitting and sewing; she found special pleasure in making things for little children; and always her thoughts were for others.
