Frances "Corky" Peterson, age 71, of McGregor, Iowa died Thursday, May 4, 2000 at Memorial Hospital in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin following a short illness. Memorial services were held Monday May 8, at 10:30 a.m. at Thornburg-Hanson Funeral home in McGregor, ,Iowa with burial in First Lutheran Cemetery in McGregor, Iowa. Thornburg-Hanson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Frances was born January 6, 1929 in Farmersburg, Iowa to John and Azalia (Rubendall) Corlett. She graduated from McGregor High School in 1947. She married Lyle "Pete" Peterson on May 7, 1950 at First Lutheran Church McGregor, Iowa. They resided in Oskaloosa, Iowa for 7 years until Pete's death in 1957 at which time she moved to McGregor, Iowa. She was an active member in several community organizations for many years. She was well known for her sense of humor and her commitment to family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; 1 son, Eugene Peterson; 1 brother John Corlett, Jr.; 3 sisters, Norma, Marilyn, Mary and one grandson, Jeremiah.

She is survived by 4 daughters: Sandie (Mark) Baade of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Joanne Burr of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, Terri (Leon) Kishman of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Laurie (Brent) Denning of Waterloo, Iowa; 10 grandchildren: Nick and Josh Baade, Bobbi Jo and Jason Burr, Emily, Erin, and Ben Kishman, Brad, Kyle, and Taylor Denning; 2 sisters, Ivy Sauer of McGregor, Iowa and Jean Wolter of Luana, Iowa; sister-in-law, Connie Corlett; 2 brothers-in-law, Dwain Wolter and Wesley Bohlen and numerous nieces and nephews.
