Final Rites Held For Oscar Davis

Oscar Francis Davis, the son of George B. and Ella A. (Peterson) Davis, was born on a farm south of McGregor, Iowa, February 3, 1899. He was baptized by Pastor Marshall of the Congregational Church on June 11, 1899 at McGregor. He was confirmed as a youth in the Lutheran Christian Faith in the First Lutheran Church (Swede Ridge, near McGregor). He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran, Garnavillo.

He farmed near National for many years. He moved to Luana in 1942 and lived on the John Krambeer farm. He was united in marriage to Louise Erb, February 16, 1944. To this union three children were born: Duaine, Harold and Diane. He farmed many years near Luana until his retirement. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Luana, belonged to the Brotherhood and served on the church council for many years.

Mr. Davis died Saturday, August 22, 1981 at his home south of Luana, having reached the age of 82 years, 6 months, 19 days. Preceding him in death were his parents, two sisters, Clara Davis, Marie Kopena, five brothers, Raymond, Oliver, Fred, William, and Carlton. Surviving him are his wife Louise, two sons, Duaine, Luana, Harold, Epworth, his daughter, Diane, Postville, four grandchildren, a brother Clarence, McGregor and two sisters, Margaret Laufer, Garnavillo and Emily Berke, Wheaton, Illinois.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 25, 1981 at St. John Lutheran Church, Luana at 11 a.m. with Pastor Ted Ager officiating.
