Georgia Ida Mork

Georgia Ida Mork, 89, of Elgin, IA died December 10, 1997 at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon, IA after a long illness. She was born Sept. 6, 1908 near Elgin, Iowa to George and Cecelia (Baumgartner) Meyer. She was raised and educated in the area, graduating from teacher's training at Upper Iowa University, Fayette, IA. She then taught in local rural schools.

She was united in marriage with Kenneth B. Mork on March 31, 1934, at Elgin, IA. Three children were born to this union. Together they farmed in Clayton County until 1977 when they retired to Elgin. Georgia was a long time member of Marion Lutheran Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Janann (Alan) Seabrooke, of Elgin, IA, and Nona (Wayne) Sawyer of Waukon, IA; five grandchildren, Jill (Randy) Mack of Manchester, IA, Tim (Lynne) Seabrooke of Fayette, IA, Robin Sawyer of Englewood, CO, Scott (Julie) Sawyer of Hillsboro, IL, and Michael (Shari) Sawyer of Cedar Falls, IA, eight great-grandchildren; a foster brother, Elmer (Verna) Meyer of Elgin, IA; and by many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Georgia was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; a son, Kendall; great-grandson, Joshua Mack; three sisters, Ina Meyer, her twin, in infancy, Hulda Smith, and Louise Wenger; and by her parents.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, December 13, 1997 at Marion Lutheran Church, Gunder, IA with Rev. Marshall Hahn officiating. Interment will be held at a later date.

Casket bearers were Randy and Jill Mack, Tim and Lynne Seabrooke, Robin Sawyer, Scott and Julie Sawyer, Michael and Shari Sawyer.
