Volga City, Iowa—Special: Martin Hurley, 43, oldest son of Mrs. Anna Hurley of Volga City, died Christmas morning at his home in San Francisco, Calif., where he and his wife, the former Mary Murphy of Chicago, had resided the past year. Death was due to pneumonia. At present, his wife is critically ill in a hospital in San Francisco.
The remains are being sent to Volga City where the funeral will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are indefinite.
Surviving besides his wife in California, are his mother Mrs. Anna Hurley, Volga City, one brother Joseph Hurley, Elkader; and three sisters, Mrs. Harold (Catherine) Smith, Clinton, Tenn., Mrs. Greg (Myrtle) Eischeid and Mrs. M. (Melville) R. (Hazel) Handberg, both of Volga City, also three nieces and six nephews. A sister, Evelyn Hurley, preceded him in death.
His father John M. Hurley, resides at McGregor.
