Funeral services for Lowell Anawine Fox were held Tuesday, June 6, 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, Luana. Pastor Ted Ager officiated. Organist was Helmuth Landt. Burial was in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Luana. Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona was in charge of arrangements.

The son of Henry and Elsie (Schroeder) Fox, he was born October 28, 1909 on a farm in Giard Township, Clayton County, IA. He was baptized Dec. 27, 1909 in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Monona by Rev. Wapper and confirmed by communicant member at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Postville April 2, 1944. He received his education in Monona graduating from Monona high school May 28, 1928.

On November 5, 1929 Lowell married Ruby Seeland at her parent's home in St. Olaf, IA. They had 2 children. Lowell worked for 9 years in his father's hardware store. In 1938 they began farming in Grand Meadow Township near Postville. In 1940 they purchased their own farm. The couple moved to their home in Luana in 1966. Lowell worked for Hangartner's Surge Milking Co., Luana Co-op and Lowell's Electric in Luana.

He died Friday, June 2, 1989, as a result of an automobile accident east of Monona, IA. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Luana.

Surviving is one son, Ronald (Marilyn) Fox and one daughter, Juanita (Marvin) Mohs, all of Postville; 5 grandchildren, David Fox, Debra Moon, Diana Parker, Randy Mohs and Terry Mohs; 13 great-grandchildren; and one sister, June Drahn of Farmersburg.

Pallbearers were Joe Duwe, Stuart Schultz, Rick Kirkeberg, Scott Kirkeberg, Larry Moore, Ray Suckow, Jack Hager, Clarence Moore, Ky Kirkeberg, Dennis Koenig, Bill Christofferson and Bob Converse.

Monona Couple Killed In 3-Vehicle Accident

A three vehicle accident took the lives of a Monona couple Friday afternoon.

Lowell Fox, 79, and his wife Ruby, 81, died in the accident which took place 2.5 miles east of Monona on Highway 18.

According to Iowa State Patrol officials the accident also involved a car driven by Christa Allen, 45, of Edgewood, and a semi-trailer truck driven by Laverne Moudry, 52, of Protivin. At Central Community Hospital, at Elkader, where Allen was taken, officials declined to comment on her condition.

The Fox vehicle, a 1986 Dodge, and the Allen vehicle, a 1984 Pontiac, were both totaled. The 1982 Freightliner tractor and trailer, driven by Moudry, received $1,500 in damages.

Iowa Highway Patrol officials stated that the accident is still under investigation.
