Lloyd Bente rites held at Elkader - Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, at Peace United Church of Christ in Elkader for Lloyd Bente 66, of Elkader, who died suddenly at his home Sunday night March 31, 1991.
Burial was in East Side Cemetery with the following pallbearers; Glen R. Bente, Paul Bazyn, Rodney Bries, Erwin Mueller, Gary Helgerson, and Bradley Bissell.
Lloyd Vernon Bente was born June 28, 1924 near Elkader, a son of Fred and Clara (Christofferson) Bente.
He was married June 4, 1946 at Peace United Church of Christ to Kathleen Bissell. They farmed near Elkader until 1967 when they moved into Elkader where he was employed for a short time before working for the Gunder Cheese Factory until his retirement. He was active with the Clayton County Archery Club.
He is survived by his wife, Kate; five daughters, Carol Glesne of Dubuque, Mrs. James (Sandra) Berger of Volga, Mrs. Dwight (Janis) Rodas of Littleport, Linda Friede and Mrs. Ed (Donna) DeShaw, both of Elkader; a son Jeff of Manchester; 11 grandchildren, and a brother, Glen F. Bente of Postville. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Marie Mueller, and a brother Raymond.
The Leonard-Witt Funeral Home, Elkader, was in charge of arrangements.
