Guttenberg, Ia. - Mr. and Mrs. Anton Lorenz, well-known Guttenberg residents, will observe their golden wedding anniversary at their home here Sunday. A family dinner will be served at noon and open house will be held in the afternoon and evening. The celebrants were married here May 3, 1893.
Mrs. Lorenz was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Kirch and was born July 21, 1875, in Clayton County. Her husband was born Dec. 7, 1872, in Dubuque, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Bahn. When he was four years old, his mother died and he was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Anton Lorenz of Dubuque.
At the age of 19, Mr. Lorenz moved to Guttenberg where he operated a meat market for many years. He later became a button cutter and at present assists his son, Lester, in the operation of a local oil station.
They are the parents of three children: Vivian and Lester, both at home, and Arnold of Portland, Ore. They also have three grandchildren. Both Mr. and Mrs. Lorenz are enjoying good health.
