Schmitz - Donlon marriage - 1957

Miss Jane Donlon of Minneapolis, Minn., daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Donlon of Elkader, and Kenneth F. Schmitz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Philip A. Schmitz of Ossian, were married Saturday in St. Joseph's church at Elkader. The Rev. Cletus Hawes officiated. Babs Donlon, sister of the bride, and Mrs. Ivan Uhlenhake of Ossian, sister of the groom, were bridesmaids. Flower girl was Cheryl Miller of Las Vegas, Nev., niece of the bride. Best man was Karl Schmitz of Ossian, brother of the groom. Ransom Melbrandt of Minneapolis, brother-in-law of the bride, and Ivan Uhlenhake of Ossian, brother-in-law of the groom, were groomsmen. Ushers were Joe Donlon of Postville, cousin of the bride, and Dennis Miller of Ossian, cousin of the groom.

A reception was held at the Vet's club in Elkader, at which Helen Bauer, aunt of the bride, cut the three-tiered wedding cake, and Evelyn Miller, aunt of the bride, poured.

The bride was graduated from St. Joseph's high school and has been employed in the Marquette national bank at Minneapolis. The groom was graduated from St. Francis de Sales high school at Ossian and attended Minneapolis school of business. He is now in business with his father at the Schmitz furniture in Ossian.
