Norma Jean Fletcher, youngest daughter of Norman and Olive Fletcher, was born at Greenville, Iowa, November 26, 1926. She departed this life at her home near Greenville, Friday night, October 31, 1930, at the age of three years 11 months and five days.
Norma Jean was one of those lively, good natured and loveable children, attractive, and loved by very one young and old. She was in the kindergarten class of the Daily Vacation Bible school last spring and seemed to enjoy it very much. Little Norma Jean was the light of the home, the joy of her friends, a sunbeam that brought light, comfort and cheer to all who came in contact with her. Her untimely end and the manner of her going is a distinct shock to the sympathetic chords of every heart in the community. They beat as one in deep and profound sympathy with the wife and mother in her double bereavement.
Funeral services for the father and daughter were held at the friends church in Greenville, Monday, with Rev. F. E. Carpenter, the pastor, officiating. Hundreds were unable to gain admission to the church.
A quartet composed of Kenneth Scott, Mrs. Jack Green, Mrs. George Brallier and Mont Walker sang three selections, "Sometime We'll Understand," "No Night There" and "Does Jesus Care?"
Pallbearers were Jack Green, Wayne Pickering, Roy Birdsall, Vete Adams, Virgil Gritten and Neal McMullen. Interment was made in the Greenville cemetery.
