Jacob Allen “Jake” McCreary 1990-2016

Jacob Allen McCreary, the son of Mark McCreary and Tonia Roede, was born December 13, 1990 in Spirit Lake, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in Langdon, Iowa, where he received his education in nearby Terril and Spencer schools, graduating from Spencer High School in 2009. After his graduation, he lived in Graettinger for a short time until moving to Granville, Iowa, where he worked for Den Hartog Industries in Hospers, Iowa.

He went to boot camp in Fort Benning, Georgia in 2011 and moved to Sutherland, Iowa as a member of the National Guard in Carroll, Iowa.

Jacob married Tiffany Maurer on October 5, 2013 in Swan Lake Winery in Superior, IA. He worked full time at Morton Buildings and was currently working at Ken's Feed Store in Sutherland. He was a member of the Sutherland Fire Department. Jacob enjoyed heavy weight lifting, spending time with friends and family and truck driving.

He passed away at his home in Sutherland, Iowa on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at the age of 25. Jacob was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Stella McCreary.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, his two children: his brothers and sisters: Britany, Stacie, Liam, Declan and Hunter; his parents: Mark & Cassie McCreary, and Tonia Roede; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gail and Sherry Maurer; other relatives and many friends.
