Services for Forrest Clay Klett were February 28 at Hope Lutheran Church in Everly with Pastor G. Duane Baun officiating
Casketbearers were Gary Klett, Rick Terpstra, Scott Klett, Ryan Terpstra, Rob Terpstra and Mark Klett
Forrest Klett, the son of Charles and Mabel (Hakeman) Klett was born January 17, 1919 in rural Milford. He received his education in rural schools of Everly, later graduating from Everly High School
On February 14, 1942, Forrest entered the U.S. Army
He married Darlene Meyer on November 20, 1942 in South Sioux City, Nebraska. following their marriage, Forrest continued his service in the Army for nearly four years, two of which were spent in the European Theatre
He took part in the Battle of the Bulge, Normandy, Northern French Rhineland, European African Theatre and received four Bronze Stars. He received his honorable discharge on September 4, 1945
Following his discharge, he started to farm in the Everly and May City areas and continued until his retirement when the couple moved to their present home in Everly. While living in Everly, he was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church
Forrest was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed gardening and the ourdoors and loved to work around the home with his grandchidlren lending a helping hand
On February, he passed away at his home in Everly at the age of 78.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Donald and Dayle
He is survived by his wife, Darlene of Everly; two sons and their wives, Gale and Nancy and their children, Stephanie and Bryan all of Green Bay, Wisconsin and Lanny and Barb abd their children, Alicia and Nathan all of Hartley, two brothers Duane of Everly and Jerry and his wife, Dianna of Downey, California, three sisters Cleone Farquhar of Spencer, Delma Terpstra and her husband, Dick of Waterloos, Janice Wilson and her husband Loren of Milford and one sister in law, Mildred Klett of Everly as well as other relatives and many friends
Interment was in Lone Tree Cemetery at Everly with arrangements by Warner Funeral Home of Spencer
