Melvin Conlon, 85, Spencer, died Friday, August 7, 1998 at his home
Funeral services were Monday, August 10 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Spencer with the Rev. Roger Linnan officiating
Casket bearers were Don Hartzell, Chuck Elliott, Larry Conlon, Tom Derrig, Tom Elliott and Herb Conlon
Military graveside services were conducted by American Legion Glen Pedersen Post #1, Spencer
Burial was at Riverside Cemetery, Spencer with Warner Funeral Home of Spencer in charge of arrangements
Melvin Cletus Conlon, the son of Thomas and Carrie (Waldron) Conlon was born March 24, 1913 in Estherville. As a young child his family moved to Fort Dodge and it was there he received his early education and graduated from Fort Dodge High School.
Following his schooling, Melvin entered the military serving with the United States Marines
Melvin married Carol Chamberlain on June 8, 1947 in Spencer.Throughout his married life, they owned and operated the Palo Alto County Abstract. Mel also owned and operated his own carpentry business for several years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church
Mr. Conlon was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, five brothers and three sisters
He is survived by several nieces and nephews
