Franklin James Chapman, 85, Spencer, died Friday, November 3, at St. Luke Regional Medical Center in Sioux City

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at First Congregational Church in Spencer. Masonic services be conducted by Post #312 A.F and A.M. of Spencer

Memorials may be designated to the Shriner's Children's Hospital or First Congregational Church

Casket bearers will be Frank Christenson, Tim Christenson, Alex Christenson, Jeff Kendall, Jim Petersen and Chris Kabele

Franklin James Chapman, the son of Walter and Lola Chapman, was born August 20, 1910 in Terril. His childhood years were spent in Terril, wher he received his edication, graduating from Terril High School in 1927. Following high school, he attended the University of Commerce in Des Moines

Mr. Chapman married Helen Nicolaisen on January 27, 1933 in Spencer. Following their marriage, they lived in terril. They later moved to Des Moines for five years, where Mr. Chapman worked for Standard Oil. Furing World War II, he was a foreman at the Ordinance Plant in Ankeny

In 1945, the Chapmans moved to Spencer, where Mr. Chapman managed the Welco Feed Co. until 1968. He then went on to work for the State Department of Agriculture, retiring in 1972

He was a member of First Congregational Church in Spencer, as well as the Masonic Lodge, York Rite and the AbUBekr Shrine and Golden K Kiwanis

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Faith Christiansen and one brother, Walter Chapman

He is survived by his wife; four daughters and their husbands; JoAnn and William Kendall of Berkeley, California, Nancy and Harlan Christensen of Spirit Lake, Kathleen and Phil Petersen of Crystal Lake, Illinois and Patricia and Jan Paul Severson of Ames; ten grandchidlren; eleven great grandchildren
